When our son joined in Year 7 he was painfully shy. Three years of MYP, a patient form tutor and the house system have transformed him — he now captains the junior debate team and actually asks to stay back for choir. The teachers genuinely know him.

The Diploma Programme taught me how to think, not what to think. My Extended Essay supervisor pushed me far harder than I thought I could go. I am now reading Engineering at Imperial College London, and I still email my old physics teacher for advice.

Boarding here is nothing like the films. House suppers, late-night revision with friends, weekend treks — it built an independence I could never have learned at home. My house parents feel like family.

What sold us was a small thing: at the open day every member of staff greeted the children by name, not the parents. Two years on, that care has never wavered. The pastoral support during exams was extraordinary.

I came through the Career-related Programme and an internship the school arranged led directly to my first job. Redwood taught me to lead a room and to listen in it — the two things university never did.

The design studios and the cricket nets are my two homes. I have shot a short film, fired my own ceramics and opened the batting for the U-15s in the same term. There is room here for every version of you.
