A purposeful environment for outstanding learning
Great learning happens in great spaces. Redwood's 13-acre campus was designed from the ground up by award-winning educational architects who believe that a building can be a pedagogical statement — that the arrangement of space, light and material communicates what a school thinks about knowledge, community and the future.
Every aspect of our infrastructure is shaped by a single question: does this serve the learner? Our buildings are open, collaborative and adaptable. Walls fold away to create larger studios; corridors become gallery spaces; courtyards become science gardens. The campus is a working laboratory in sustainable design, holding LEED Platinum certification — the highest available — and generating a third of its own energy through rooftop solar arrays and a ground-source heat pump system.
Spaces designed to inspire
Science & Robotics Laboratories
Eight fully equipped science laboratories span biology, chemistry, physics and integrated sciences. Adjacent to them, a dedicated Robotics and Engineering Studio houses 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers and a full suite of Arduino and Raspberry Pi development kits — giving pupils the tools to move seamlessly from hypothesis to prototype.
Library & Research Centre
Our two-storey library holds more than 28,000 volumes in print and provides access to over 40 academic databases, including JSTOR and ProQuest. Specialist research librarians work alongside classroom teachers to develop information literacy across all year groups. Private study pods, collaborative seminar rooms and a maker-space reading lounge ensure that the library is used from 7 am to 8 pm every school day.
Performing-Arts Theatre
The 420-seat Eleanor Davies Theatre is a professional-standard venue with a fly tower, a fully rigged lighting rig, surround-sound system and a recording studio suite off stage. Used for school productions, visiting companies and community events, it provides Drama, Music and Dance pupils with an authentic performance environment that sharpens their artistry and professional confidence in equal measure.
Sports Complex
Our sports provision includes an indoor 25-metre swimming pool, a multi-court sports hall, a fitness suite, two all-weather artificial pitches, six tennis and netball courts and a 400-metre athletics track. All facilities are available to pupils during and after school. Elite squads training for national and international competition have access to dedicated strength and conditioning facilities and an on-site sports physiotherapist.
Sustainable Design
LEED Platinum certification places Redwood among the world's most environmentally advanced school campuses. Rainwater harvesting supplies all irrigation; a living green roof on the main academic building provides insulation, biodiversity habitat and an outdoor classroom. Every new construction project on campus must meet our Environmental Impact Policy, ratified annually by the Student Sustainability Council.
Connected Classrooms
Every teaching space is equipped with 4K interactive displays, a 1:1 device programme and gigabit fibre connectivity. Our digital learning environment integrates seamlessly with the IB's MYP and DP e-assessment platforms. Dedicated Digital Literacy coaches work across all year groups, ensuring that pupils are not merely consumers of technology but thoughtful, critical creators who understand its ethical dimensions.
Built with the future in mind
Redwood's sustainability programme extends well beyond architecture. Our campus is the curriculum. From the solar arrays that power our laboratories to the composting systems that fertilise our vegetable garden, every environmental feature of our campus is integrated into classroom learning. Science classes monitor energy usage data in real time; Geography pupils track our biodiversity corridor using remote sensing tools; Economics students analyse the campus's carbon offsetting strategy.
Our ambition is to be a net-zero campus by 2030. The roadmap — co-developed with our Student Sustainability Council, a body of elected pupil representatives from Year 6 to Year 13 — includes the installation of battery storage arrays, a transition to fully electric transport for school trips and the planting of a native woodland on the campus's eastern boundary.
Sustainability at Redwood is not an add-on. It is the operating system through which we teach responsibility, systems thinking and long-term consequence — qualities our pupils will need throughout their lives.
