Redwood's 13-acre campus has been designed from the ground up as an environment for serious learning and generous living. Every building, courtyard and outdoor space has been shaped by a single question: does this make it easier to teach well, to learn deeply and to live well together?
Visitors consistently tell us they feel something the moment they walk through the gates — a sense of calm purpose, of spaces that have been genuinely thought through for the people who use them. Our classrooms are flooded with natural light; our corridors are wide enough for the conversations that happen between lessons; our outdoor spaces invite both rigorous observation and unhurried reflection. Architecture, we believe, shapes the culture it houses, and we have invested accordingly.
The campus achieved LEED Platinum certification in 2019 — the highest standard in sustainable construction — and has since maintained that status through ongoing investment in renewable energy, water reclamation and materials stewardship. We regard environmental responsibility not as a cost but as an education: our pupils understand that the choices made in the design of their school are a model for the choices they will face in the world beyond it.
Purpose-built for every kind of learner
Science Labs
Three floors of purpose-built laboratories, each equipped for IB-standard experimental work and independent pupil research. Our labs are used outside school hours by science societies and visiting university researchers, giving pupils daily exposure to genuine scientific practice alongside their formal programme.
Library & Learning Commons
A central, light-filled space at the heart of the academic building, housing 26,000 volumes alongside digital research tools, collaborative study areas and quiet individual carrels. Staffed by three specialist librarian-teachers, the Learning Commons is the intellectual hub of the school and is open from early morning until evening.
Arts Studios
Purpose-built studios for visual art, ceramics, photography and film, each with professional-grade tools and natural north light. Our adjacent recital hall seats 220 and doubles as an intimate performance space for chamber concerts, drama productions and spoken-word evenings throughout the academic year.
Sports Arenas
An Olympic-length swimming pool, three full-size astroturf pitches, a 400-metre athletics track and two sports halls provide world-class facilities for competitive and recreational sport. A fully equipped fitness suite and sports medicine centre support every level of participation, from the casual to the elite.
Boarding Houses
Four boarding houses accommodate up to 280 pupils from Year 7 upwards, with single and twin rooms, common rooms, supervised study halls and dedicated pastoral staff on duty round the clock. Boarding at Redwood is warmly familial rather than institutionally formal — pupils consistently tell us the friendships formed here are the most enduring of their lives.
Dining Hall
A bright, social space that serves three freshly prepared meals a day, sourced locally wherever possible. Our menus rotate seasonally and cater for all dietary requirements, religious observances and food preferences. Pupils tell us consistently that the food — and the laughter around the table — is one of the very best things about life at Redwood.
Built to last lightly
LEED Platinum is not simply a badge — it is a discipline. Redwood's buildings are oriented to maximise natural light and minimise heating demand; our rooftop solar array generates over 40 per cent of the campus's electrical needs; and a grey-water reclamation system supplies all non-potable demand across the grounds, reducing consumption by more than a third compared with conventional installations.
We have partnered with our local university to monitor biodiversity across the campus estate, turning our meadow margins, ponds and woodland corridor into a live teaching resource for biology and environmental systems. Every year group has a stewardship project — planting, monitoring, recording — that connects classroom science to the living world outside. These are not enrichment add-ons; they are curriculum, assessed and taken seriously.
These choices reflect a deep conviction that an education worth having must look forward. Our pupils will inherit a world that demands both scientific rigour and ethical responsibility; we want them to leave Redwood having practised both, every single day.
