Dr Eleanor Hartley, School Director of Redwood Science Academy
School Director

Dr Eleanor Hartley

Dr Hartley joined Redwood Science Academy as School Director following a distinguished career spanning three continents and four IB World Schools. She holds a doctorate in Curriculum Design from the University of Edinburgh and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from University College London. Her academic work has been published in the Journal of Research in International Education and presented at the IB Global Conference.

Beyond her scholarship, Dr Hartley is a practising IB Evaluation Leader, conducting school reviews on behalf of the IB Organisation, and a certified CIS-NEASC Peer Evaluator — roles that give her an unparalleled view of what separates good international schools from truly exceptional ones. She brings that knowledge home to Redwood in everything from strategic planning to the way we design professional development for our teachers.

Dr Hartley believes that the surest sign of a great school is not its examination results but the quality of its questions. "We want children who leave Redwood genuinely unsatisfied with simple answers," she says. "That restlessness — intellectually — is the greatest gift we can give them."

Senior Leadership Team

Experienced, caring, deeply IB-trained

Each Head brings specialist expertise in their phase of education and holds IB Category 1 and 2 workshop certifications at minimum. Together they form a leadership team characterised by collaborative rigour — challenging one another professionally whilst modelling the same reflective practice they ask of every pupil.

Ms Rebecca Warwick

Head of Primary School. A PYP educator of twenty years, Ms Warwick trained as an IB educator at the British School of Amsterdam and holds IBEN facilitator status. She leads a Primary team renowned for the quality of its Units of Inquiry and for the warmth with which every child is known and valued as an individual.

Mr Daniel Osei-Bonsu

Head of Middle School. Formerly MYP Coordinator at an IB World School in Singapore, Mr Osei-Bonsu brings a systems-thinker's approach to the middle years. He is passionate about interdisciplinary learning and has led curriculum integration projects recognised by the IB as examples of outstanding practice. He personally oversees the Year 5 Personal Project programme.

Dr Priya Subramaniam

Head of Senior School. An Oxford-trained biochemist turned educator, Dr Subramaniam has been a DP Coordinator and Theory of Knowledge examiner for the IB Organisation for eleven years. Her deep subject expertise and exceptional pastoral instinct create a sixth form in which intellectual ambition and genuine wellbeing coexist. Under her leadership, Redwood's average DP point score has risen consistently for six successive years.

Mrs Joanna Treadwell

Head of Boarding. Mrs Treadwell oversees Redwood's residential community of 160 boarding pupils drawn from 24 countries. A former Round Square delegate coordinator, she believes that boarding done well is simply excellent pastoral care made continuous. Under her stewardship, boarding at Redwood is not a supplement to school life — it is a rich education in itself, in community, responsibility and global citizenship.
